Sheng Chiang is in the Chinese and Comparative Literature PhD program.
Sheng Chiang is a Fulbright Scholar and PhD candidate in Chinese and Comparative Literature at Washington University in St. Louis. He received his MA in Chinese Literature from National Taiwan University. Tentatively titled Queer Worldliness in Times of Crisis, his dissertation examines queer cultural productions from Taiwan and the broader Sinophone world, exploring how alternative modes of becoming and belonging emerge under conditions of geopolitical precarity and ecological catastrophe. Through analyses of literary and cultural forms that bear witness to the human and more-than-human consequences of manufactured disasters, the project interrogates dominant narratives of crisis while recovering historically foreclosed possibilities for worldmaking.
